Wright Medical Group, Inc. Launches A-CLASS(TM)Crosslinked Polyethylene Bearing for the LINEAGE(R) Acetabular Hip System
ARLINGTON, Tenn.--(HSMN NewsFeed)--Jan. 5, 2006-- Wright Medical Group, Inc. (NASDAQ:WMGI ), a global orthopaedic medical device company, today announced the launch of its wear-reducing A-CLASS(TM) Polyethylene Liner for the LINEAGEŽ Acetabular Hip System. Recently granted marketing clearance by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Wright's A-CLASS(TM) Polyethylene Liner is produced with a proprietary crosslinking process that makes it significantly more wear-resistant than traditional LINEAGEŽ polyethylene liners, thereby reducing the potential for dissolution of adjacent bone due to osteolysis.
While traditional LINEAGEŽ polyethylene liners have an excellent clinical history of wear-resistance, laboratory testing has shown that the A-CLASS(TM) Polyethylene Liner reduces the generation of wear debris by up to 94% when compared with current LINEAGEŽ polyethylene liners.
"The A-CLASS(TM) Polyethylene adds a new level of distinction to Wright's LINEAGEŽ Acetabular System," says Aldo Denti, Vice President of Marketing for Wright's Ortho Recon Division. "The LINEAGEŽ family of implants is the only acetabular system on the market that accepts alumina ceramic, cobalt chrome and crosslinked polyethylene liners in the same shell."
