ZONARE Medical Systems Announces Appointment of Leading Business Executives to Board of DirectorsMOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., May 2 (HSMN NewsFeed) -- ZONARE Medical Systems, a developer of next generation ultrasound technology, today announced the appointment of two leading business executives to the company's board of directors. Laureen De Buono, chief financial officer of Thermage, Inc., and Jeffrey Otten, past chief executive officer for Stentor, Inc. and Brigham and Women's Hospital, have been named as ZONARE's newest board members, bringing the total number of directors to seven.
Prior to Thermage, De Buono served as a senior consultant to a wide range of companies including Critical Path, Restoration Hardware and Biosource. She also has held the position of executive vice president (EVP), chief operating officer (COO) and chief financial officer (CFO) at Resound Corporation and More.Com. In addition to Stentor and Brigham and Women's Hospital, Otten has an extensive background in healthcare and biotech leadership. He has served as an executive consultant to Monitor Group and COO of the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Previously, Otten was associate hospital director and CFO of UCLA Medical Center and CFO of Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. He received his BA, MA and MBA from the University of California, Los Angeles.
De Buono and Otten join Southard; Robert Gallagher, past president, CFO and COO of Acuson; Thom Rasche, Earlybird Venture; Nadar Naini, Frazier Healthcare Ventures; and Alan Ferguson, 3i Ventures -- all previously appointed members of the board.
"As we enter into our second year of commercial shipment of our z.one ultrasound system, we believe we have an extremely well-rounded group of professionals on our board to help guide the company throughout the next stages of growth," said Southard. "With more than 250 of the world's first Convertible Ultrasound(TM) platforms shipped in approximately one year, we look forward to significantly increasing our installed base and the introduction of many more upgrades and workflow advances providing excellent return on investment for our customers."
Zone Sonography technology has allowed ZONARE to bring the first Convertible Ultrasound platform to the industry with superb image quality. Clinicians are able to instantly convert the z.one system from a full- featured, cart-based unit into a premium compact ultrasound system with all the performance of substantially larger and more expensive ultrasound units, yet, with greater portability and clinical flexibility than conventional compact systems.
Combining a fundamentally new advance in ultrasound, Zone Sonography technology coupled with the z.one platform's radically new physical design provides the maximum flexibility offering significant clinical and workflow solutions for a wide variety of customer challenges. The z.one platform's Zone Sonography software-based architecture ensures that its performance will increase as improvements in processing power become available. This allows for fast, convenient upgrades in clinical capabilities, keeping clinicians at the forefront of diagnostic capabilities as well as protecting their investment. Upgrades can now be downloaded via the internet, another industry first.
