Ascent Healthcare Solutions Receives 510(k) Clearances for Compression Sleeves

PHOENIX--(HSMN NewsFeed)--May 8, 2006--Ascent Healthcare Solutions, Inc. (Ascent), the industry's leading reprocessor of single-use medical devices (SUDs), today announced U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) clearance of the Kendall SCD Express Sleeves, Hill-Rom Active Care Sleeves, Hill-Rom DVT compression devices and Medline Sleeves.

"Compression sleeves are one of the most commonly used devices in our partners' health facilities. We continue to work to ensure that we are providing the most diverse product choices and the greatest savings opportunities possible," said Don Selvey, vice president Regulatory Affairs and Quality Assurance. "With these new 510(k) clearances, Ascent has again demonstrated commitment to meeting the FDA's requirements for reprocessed medical devices as we continue to grow our product family."

Compression sleeves increase patient comfort and accelerate recovery by relieving pain caused by vein disease, lymphedema and diabetes. Following surgery, compression sleeves are used to increase circulation, decrease swelling, reduce the build up of potential harmful fluids and accelerate the healing process. These devices come in all shapes and sizes according to what body part it is used for.

Regulated by the FDA, reprocessing allows SUDs to be cleaned, checked for functional integrity and sterilized according to all of the requirements currently applicable to original equipment manufacturers. In the coming year, Ascent expects to help its customers save in excess of $92 million in supply expenses, which may be redirected to patient services. Ascent remains focused on providing its customers with unparalleled opportunities to promote environmental stewardship and expects to eliminate over 7,000 tons from the nation's landfills annually.
