Alpine Biomed Corp. Introduces New Diagnostic Equipment for Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, CA--(Healthcare Sales & Marketing Network)--May 15, 2006 -- Alpine Biomed Corp. introduces the Ion Ambulatory Reflux Monitor for 24 hour gastroesophageal reflux monitoring. Alpine is now taking orders for the Ion and will be showing the new instrument later this month at upcoming gastroenterology exhibitions.

The new instrument boasts many features including user-friendly software, upgraded algorithms, customizable features and a compact design. Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) is a common problem that is often diagnosed through extended monitoring by way of a trans-nasal esophageal pH catheter and recording equipment that documents changes in the acid and non-acid content at various locations in the esophagus over a period of time. The recordings are then used to determine severity and/or type of reflux, and other information which aids physicians in creating therapy plans for their patients. The Ion is the recording and monitoring equipment to which the catheter is connected for the duration of the study. Gastroenterology physicians, nurses, and technicians will be interested in the Ion's GPS (Guided Protocol System) software, which guides the user through set-up procedures.

The Ion is compatible with all major brands of pH catheters, including the VersaFlex catheters also manufactured by Alpine Biomed. "We are excited to advance our GI product line with the Ion recorder," Alpine Biomed President Brad Westcott said. "We believe the Ion will make reflux testing simpler and more accurate, benefiting the GI nurse and doctor, as well as the patient."

The Ion is currently in production and will be shown at the upcoming Digestive Disease week show in Los Angeles May 21-24, and the Society for Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates 33rd Annual Course in San Antonio, TX, May 21-23. Alpine Biomed is currently taking orders for worldwide shipment of the system. Further information about the Ion(TM) is available at www.alpinebiomed.com.

Alpine Biomed Corp. manufactures and distributes intelligent diagnostic tools for use in neurology, gastroenterology, and urology. The addition of the Ion complements Alpine's current product set which includes gastroesophageal catheters, calibration kits, and distribution of Medtronic neurodiagnostic equipment and accessories.
