Hitachi's SceptreC(TM) Provides Cardiac PET Alternative at Annual Society of Nuclear Medicine Meeting

TWINSBURG, Ohio--(HSMN NewsFeed)--May 31, 2006--Hitachi Medical Systems America Inc. (HMSA) will feature the SceptreC Cardiac PET system at the annual Society of Nuclear Medicine (SNM) meeting June 3-7, 2006 in San Diego, California. Specifically configured for Cardiac PET, SceptreC allows the utilization of both Rubidium-82 for myocardial perfusion and 18-FDG for myocardial viability procedures.

"Whole-body PET/CT offers significant throughput advantages for Oncology." states Raymond Wtulich, PET & PET/CT Product Manager for HMSA. "However, in Cardiac imaging only one bed position is required for a stress or rest acquisition making dedicated PET a comparable throughput solution at a dramatically lower cost for both equipment and service" continues Wtulich.

The SceptreC features fast acquisition times providing an efficient assessment of both stress and rest myocardial perfusion in under forty minutes. SceptreC is optimized with 3D Pico electronics to provide high-count rate capability and includes the Emory Cardiac Software PETtools(TM) for cardiac quantification to deliver an alternative solution to SPECT or PET/CT for myocardial perfusion and viability studies.
