New Siemens Medical Solutions Executive Leadership Highlights Company's Vision for the Future
MALVERN, Pa.--(HSMN NewsFeed)--June 5, 2006--Siemens Medical Solutions has announced three new executive leaders who, building upon their current experience in key leadership positions within the company, will further Siemens' vision for the future - to empower its healthcare customers with trendsetting information technology (IT) and imaging solutions, enabling them to improve quality, reduce costs and transform patient care.Following a distinguished 20-year career with Siemens, including leadership roles with Siemens Energy and Automation, Tom McCausland has announced his retirement from his current position as president and CEO of the Siemens Medical Solutions USA, Inc. Customer Solutions Group (CSG), effective June 30, 2006.
Continuing the commitment carried forth by McCausland to put customers first, Heinrich Kolem, Ph.D., has been named to succeed McCausland as president and CEO of the Siemens Medical Solutions USA, Inc. CSG, with responsibility for sales and service of Siemens' healthcare business in the U.S., including imaging, healthcare IT, consulting and service solutions. Kolem, who currently serves as the president of the Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Division of Siemens Medical Solutions, which is located in Germany, began to transition to his new role on June 1, 2006.

Executive Biographies
Tom Miller
Miller has a proven track record with Siemens and other multinational corporations. During his initial 15-year tenure with Siemens, he headed the Magnetic Resonance Imaging Division, as well as the U.S. Sales and Service Organization of Siemens Medical Solutions. He also served as President and CEO of Carl Zeiss, Inc.; President and CEO of Analogic Corporation; and was co-founder of LightLab Imaging. Miller holds a Bachelor of Science in nuclear engineering from the University of Massachusetts and a master's degree from the Harvard Medical School/MIT joint program in medical physics.
Janet Dillione
Dillione has more than 20 years of experience in the healthcare information services industry. With Siemens since 2000, she served as group vice president, global financial systems, prior to her current position as COO. During her tenure, she was instrumental in Siemens launch of Soarian®, which is viewed as the premier workflow-based solution in healthcare IT. Prior to Siemens, Dillione spent 18 years at Shared Medical Systems (SMS), starting as a systems consultant and consistently moving into positions of increased responsibility. Her years at SMS gave Dillione a well-rounded view of the healthcare information systems landscape, as she has worked in both the financial and clinical solutions areas, in addition to technical and management positions. Dillione has a Bachelor of Arts in bio-medical ethics from Brown University and is a graduate of the Wharton School's Executive Management Program.
Heinrich Kolem, Ph.D.
Kolem joined Siemens in 1989, bringing his insight and leadership to the MRI Division of Siemens Medical Solutions in positions ranging from engineering to marketing. Most recently, Kolem was president of that Division, a post he has held since 2001. In that role, Kolem took the Division and its products to unprecedented market leadership in the USA and the world. A scientist as well as a business man, Kolem studied physics at the University of Dortmund in Germany, and completed postdoctoral studies at the University of Utah, where he conducted research and experiments to advance MRI technology.
Tom McCausland
As president and CEO of the Customer Solutions Group for the past 10 years, McCausland was instrumental in helping the business become one of the most successful operating companies within Siemens AG, thanks to his focus on strengthening the company's customer relationships. McCausland joined Siemens in 1986 at Siemens Energy and Automation, where his leadership in various roles helped increase sales by 300 percent. Prior to joining Siemens, McCausland held numerous senior-level sales, marketing, engineering and manufacturing positions during his 20 years with Westinghouse. Currently, McCausland is on the board of directors of the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) and AdvaMed, and is Chairman of the Board of the Siemens Foundation, which provides more than $1 million in college scholarships and awards each year for talented high school students in the U.S.
