Cardiac Science Deploying Powerheart(TM) AEDs in Michigan School Districts
BOTHELL, Wash., Aug. 1 (HSMN NewsFeed) -- Cardiac Science Corporation (Nasdaq: CSCX ), a global leader in advanced cardiac monitoring and external defibrillation products, announced today that its Powerheart(TM) Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) are being deployed in more than 130 public school districts throughout Michigan. Cardiac Science will supply 442 Powerheart AEDs to Michigan elementary, middle and high schools. Schools purchased the devices with funds from a Michigan Department of Homeland Security grant. The use of a defibrillator to shock the heart back into normal rhythm is the only effective treatment for sudden cardiac arrest, and several peer-reviewed studies in leading medical journals have demonstrated that defibrillation within the first few minutes of out-of-hospital sudden cardiac arrest significantly improves the likelihood of a victim's survival.
