Elite Imaging Introduces Strongest MRI Machine to South Florida for Outpatient Imaging

New Machine Uses Super-Powerful Magnet, Produces Most-Detailed, Clearest MRI Pictures Possible

Elite Imaging Operates New MRI From New, Second Location in Aventura

MIAMI--(HSMN NewsFeed)--Elite Imaging, one of South Florida's fastest growing and most technologically advanced medical imaging facilities, today announced the opening of its second facility in Aventura where it will offer physicians and patients access to the Siemens MAGNETOM Trio 3-Tesla (3T), high-field MRI - which uses the strongest magnet available in an MRI scanner.

Elite Imaging's new 3-Tesla scanner provides razor-sharp images for a multitude of medical applications including brain imaging, muscle and ligament injuries, bone traumas and many other pathologies. Additionally, the new scanner will play a vital role in helping physicians, patients and their families with early detection, diagnosis and monitoring progression of disease processes such as cancer and Alzheimer's disease.

"The MAGNETOM Trio advances the applications of 3T MRI scanning technology, which produces an unrivaled level of clarity in magnetic resonance imaging. We can now see elements of the human body that we couldn't see before," said Dr. Mark Zhuk, managing principal of Elite Imaging. "This system produces advanced, high quality pictures allowing us to provide physicians with the cutting-edge medical imaging required to detect and diagnose disease states earlier."

The new scanner enhances the utility of magnetic resonance imaging, a technology which has been widely used since the 1980s. MRI provides pictures of soft tissue that cannot be easily seen with x-ray technology, which includes CT or CAT scans.

"We have been using an open configuration magnet for MRIs every day, but that earlier technology has limitations in speed and resolution. With the new MAGNETOM Trio, we are now able to photograph and examine, in startling detail, the tiniest anomaly faster than ever before without the patient having to undergo an invasive procedure. That means less risk, less pain, and better outcomes for patients," said Dr. Kalevi Soila, staff radiologist with Elite Imaging.

In addition to the new MRI scanner, Elite Imaging's new Aventura facility utilizes the BIOGRAPH 16 - a 16 slice-PET/CT Hybrid System which combines the anatomically detailed information obtained from a CT (or CAT scan) with the metabolic activity recorded by a PET scanner. The combined PET/CT system lets physicians detect the tiniest pathologies such as the early recurrence of cancer by revealing tumors that may otherwise be obscured by scarring from surgery and radiation therapy.

Elite Imaging also operates other leading-edge medical imaging scanners including:

  • The Hitachi Altaire 0.7, high-field open MRI, offering patients a non-claustrophobic environment that allows maximum light and air, while producing highly accurate images; and
  • A Siemens High Speed PET System.

Elite Imaging's world renowned radiologists, from Mount Sinai Medical Center - Miami Beach and the University of Miami, produce written interpretations using state-of-the-art data virtualization and management software and ensure that referring physicians receive fast turn-around of hard-copy patient scans - usually within 24 hours.

Elite Imaging's two Aventura facilities are located at:

  • Mount Sinai Medical Arts Plaza - 2845 Aventura Blvd - Suite 145
  • Concorde Centre II - 2999 N.E. 191st Street - Suite 406
