Endius Launches NorthStar(TM) Cannulated Screw Delivery System

Use with Endius Atavi System allows new MIS surgical options

PLAINVILLE, Mass., Sept. 27 (HSMN NewsFeed) -- Endius Incorporated announced today that availability of its NorthStar(TM) Cannulated Screw Delivery System for use with the company's Atavi product line.

Using the Endius Atavi System, surgeons can now perform microdiscectomies, decompressions, interbody fusions, multi-level pedicular fixation and deliver motion preservation technologies through a posterior, posterolateral or straight lateral approach using the Atavi FlexPosure Retractor. Simplified access now allows surgeons to adapt their current surgical techniques to a MIS platform, preserving important soft tissue structures and providing patients with significant clinical benefits.

"The addition of the NorthStar System complements Atavi by allowing surgeons the ability to target pedicles percutaneous and then finish their construct through the Atavi platform," said Michael McCarthy, president and CEO of Endius. "The NorthStar system combines the advantages of the Atavi MIS system, TiTLEĀ®2 system and cannulated screw delivery."

McCarthy said the NorthStar system enables surgeons to target pedicles via a percutaneous method and place pedicle markers. Those markers create the target docking position for the FlexPosure which simplifies the access and fixation portions of the procedure, minimally invasively.

The NorthStar system can also be used to deliver the company's TiTLE 2 cannulated screws through a percutaneous approach.

NorthStar comes equipped with cannulated screws (in sizes 5.5mm x 40mm up to 7.5mm x 50 mm), pedicle markers, depth sleeves, dilator, marker inserter/extractor, cannulated taps, cannulated locking screw drivers and guidewires.

Founded in 1997, Endius is a pioneer in the development of breakthrough minimally-invasive spine surgery products and implants to treat serious spine disease. The company's Atavi System is the only fully integrated system that enables surgeons to perform spine surgery minimally invasively while preserving the fundamentals of traditional open surgical technique. More than 200 surgeons have now been trained to use the Atavi system and more than 2,000 surgical procedures have been successfully completed.
