Duke University Health System Joins with Draeger Medical to Implement Innovian Anesthesia SolutionDuke Converts to Innovian to Automate Anesthesia-Related Functions Across Its Entire Perioperative Process
TELFORD, Pa. & DURHAM, N.C.--(HSMN NewsFeed)--Draeger Medical announces the conversion and implementation of the Innovian® Anesthesia information management system at Duke University Health System in more than 150 point of care locations. The implementation represents the largest upgrade in the history of Draeger Medical and the most extensive Innovian installation worldwide.
Innovian Anesthesia automatically records mission-critical pre-, intra- and post-operative data, enabling caregivers to focus less on paperwork and more on the patient, and helping to improve the entire care process for physicians, clinicians and patients alike. Innovian Anesthesia seamlessly integrates with Duke's ORview portal and web-application suite.
"Implementing Innovian will increase efficiencies and optimize patient care in operating rooms and anesthetizing locations throughout Duke," said Dr. Iain Sanderson, associate chief information officer, Perioperative Services, Duke University Health System. "Innovian enables anesthesia care providers to focus their attention on the patient. At the same time, Innovian is a highly efficient means of data collection at the point of care. We use this data to improve case throughput and as an integral part of our anesthesia and pharmacy charge capture process. Innovian data is also integral to our QI and compliance documentation, and an important part of our academic and research missions."
The relationship between Draeger Medical and Duke extends back to 1998 when Duke was the first hospital to deploy Draeger's Saturn (anesthesia information management) System. While evaluating options to upgrade to the next generation of anesthesia systems, Duke University Health System chose Draeger Medical based on the company's extensive experience in the field, its commitment to client support, and the Innovian solution's ability to interface with other hospital systems. The result is a new, 5-year joint commitment that will allow Duke and Draeger to expand on the efficiency and quality improvement opportunities that have already been realized.
"Draeger Medical is focused on developing solutions that help clients like Duke University Health System offer the very best in patient care," said Phil Croxford, president, Draeger Medical. "By emphasizing constant innovation, seamless integration and comprehensive services, we are able to offer our clients products that help improve the patient experience, process efficiencies, and optimize care."
