Viatronix Announces the Installation of Its V3D-Colon System at Fourteen Hospitals in France - These Hospitals Will Be Part of the 'STIC' Clinical Trial in France

STONY BROOK, N.Y., Oct. 19 (HSMN NewsFeed) -- Stony Brook, NY based Viatronix Incorporated is pleased to announce the successful installation of its V3D Colon module for Virtual Colonoscopy at fourteen hospitals throughout France. Viatronix expects to install at additional sites in the coming months. All the hospitals are taking part in the STIC trial under the direction of Prof. Denis Heresbach (Gastroenterologist) and Prof. Yves Gandon (Radiologist) from Rennes, France. The clinical trial will begin shortly and is expected to take twenty four months to complete.

"All the sites have been equipped with the latest version of the robust and well-known Viatronix V3D-Colon platform that provides unique workflow optimized tools," said Zaffar Hayat, President of Viatronix. "Some of the hospitals in France that have already used the Viatronix V3D-Colon software find it to be user friendly and its unique diagnostic tools to be of great help in patient diagnosis. The latest version provides optimized automatic post processing, enhanced electronic cleansing, interactive 2D and 3D windows, and proven diagnostic tools such as missed regions, supine and prone registration, automatic center line and translucent rendering that are available on the fly; allowing a radiologist to seamlessly read a case in under ten minutes," he went on to say.

"Radiologist Training for the Virtual Colonoscopy exam is an important function as highlighted in some of the earlier publications and by many leaders in the industry. To this end Viatronix has worked with leading radiologists in France and elsewhere to develop a strong training program for radiologists," said Zaffar Hayat, President of Viatronix.

"During 2006, six Virtual Colonoscopy training courses for radiologists have been held at Sal Petetrie in Paris," said Dr. Mehdi Cadi. "After research in this field for many years Prof. Philippe Grenier and I felt that one of the key ingredients in the successful implementation of this new technology is radiologist training. It is very important to teach the right technique for this new procedure to radiologists as well as give them the confidence necessary to read Virtual Colonoscopy cases within their own institutions. The course is offered under the chairmanship of Professor Philippe Grenier and we hope to offer many more courses in 2007 and beyond. It has been well received by radiologists."

About Viatronix

Viatronix is a leading innovator and developer of 2D/3D medical imaging and diagnostic software. Our software enables physicians to interactively view vital organs and anatomical structures within the human body from data acquired by standard medical imaging equipment in minimally or non-invasive methods. The 2D digital data acquired from imaging devices is automatically post processed using the company's proprietary software techniques and provides 3D diagnostic quality images for the physician. The company's first product, V3D-Colon for "Virtual Colonoscopy" allows physicians to interactively view the colon reconstructed from a CT scan, providing visualization of the inner surface that includes polyps and lesions. The company's V3D-Explorer offers a robust and user-friendly workstation platform that views and reconstructs data in 2D/3D for virtually any organ in the body. V3D-Calcium Scoring aids physicians in determining the amount of calcified plaque accumulation in the coronary arteries. V3D-Vascular is breakthrough software that permits rapid segmentation and visualization of complex arterial structures using 3D volume rendering, maximum intensity projection and simulated x-ray views. Viatronix, through application of the V3D technology, is developing additional innovative products that will be useful in early detection of other diseases, treatment planning, intervention and follow up evaluation.
