Healthcare Industry News:  reprocessing

Devices Group Purchasing

 News Release - October 27, 2006

ReNu Medical, Inc. and Premier Purchasing Partners, LP. Agree to New 3-Year Reprocessing/Cost Containment Agreement

EVERETT, WA--(Healthcare Sales & Marketing Network)--Oct 27, 2006 -- ReNu Medical and Premier Purchasing Partners agreed to a new three-year agreement, effective November 1, 2006, to continue providing their members with a choice of technologies to maximize cost savings and substantially reduce environmental and hospital medical waste.

Using High-level disinfection (HLD) and focusing only on medical devices used throughout the hospital every day, ReNu Medical provides hospitals the opportunity to reduce cost and medical waste. Unlike other programs, each hospital receives only the devices collected from their facility. Each item has been cleaned, 100% tested for functionality, packaged and returned as an FDA compliant product.

Premier was the first national Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) to include HLD as an alternative to and adjunct with ETO sterilization for selected medical devices.

"Since all of the devices reprocessed by ReNu using our HLD process are cleared by the FDA and classified as non-critical, the decision to utilize the Premier agreement can easily be based on the hospital's desire to reduce the cost per patient use while maintaining the same high level of patient care offered by the new device," said Bill Stoermer, Regional Sales Manager for ReNu Medical.

"Our continued relationship with Premier has been a joint effort to reduce supply chain costs and environmental waste even further. With ReNu's non-toxic technology, members are provided a choice. High Level Disinfection continues to provide additional benefits over other toxic alternatives," said Randy Long, CEO, ReNu Medical. "Maximizing cost savings, focusing on patient safety, and providing a quality product within the FDA guidelines is our objective as we work with Premier Members over the next 3 years."
