Cardiac Science Deploys Powerheart(TM) AEDs in Norman, Oklahoma School District

School personnel training to perform CPR with Defibrillation

BOTHELL, Wash., Nov. 6 (HSMN NewsFeed) -- Cardiac Science Corporation (Nasdaq: CSCX ), a global leader in advanced Cardiac Monitoring and external defibrillation products, announced today that the Norman Independent School District of Norman, Oklahoma has completed its deployment of Cardiac Science's Powerheart Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs). The school district has also begun to work with Cardiac Science to execute Heartsafe(TM) Program Management, which includes training its staff to perform CPR with defibrillation.

The School District has acquired 33 Powerheart AEDs and installed them throughout its elementary and middle schools, as well as in its administrative buildings. The school district has also purchased Cardiac Science's Heartsafe Program Management, which includes American Heart Association training in AED/CPR for its faculty and staff, to support the deployment.

"By placing a Powerheart AED in each of our schools, we create a Heartsafe environment for our students, our staff and visitors from the community," said Superintendent Dr. Joseph Siano. "Starting the academic year and sports seasons with AEDs in each school was an important and necessary step to protect everyone who walks through the schools' doors. We are confident that Cardiac Science will provide our staff with expert training in CPR with defibrillation. While we hope this training will never be needed, we plan to be ready in the event of an emergency."

Cardiac Science is among the largest providers of AED/CPR training in North America, and in 2005 alone trained more than 60,000 people. As part of its Heartsafe Program Management, Cardiac Science provides training with a 1:1 student to manikin ratio, guaranteeing greater skills retention for participants. The company's MasterTrak(TM) software also provides customers with the scheduling, coordination, and logistics support needed to ensure compliance, such as an E-minder feature that keeps customers up-to-date via e- mail with program information for their AEDs.

"Norman has demonstrated a commendable dedication to protecting the lives of its students and everyone who visits its schools," said Garry Norris, vice president of marketing. "According to the American Heart Association, more than 450,000 people die from sudden cardiac arrest each year, and, surprisingly, 7,000 are children. The likelihood of survival diminishes 10% for every minute that passes before the victim receives an electric shock. Powerheart's leading technology, reliability, and ease-of-use, have proven time and again to deliver the appropriate treatment precisely when it is needed. We are proud to play such an important role in securing heart health and safety in central Oklahoma, and in school districts across the country."
