Daxor Announces Carolinas Medical Center of Charlotte, NC Purchases BVA-100 and Blood Volume Kit Usage Increases 40%
NEW YORK--(HSMN NewsFeed)--Daxor Corporation (AMEX:DXR ), a medical instrumentation and biotechnology company, today announced the receipt of a purchase order from Carolinas Medical Center of Charlotte, North Carolina and that nationwide annual usage of blood volumes continues to increase.Carolinas Medical Center (CMC) is the flagship facility of Carolinas HealthCare System. As one of North Carolina's largest hospitals, it serves as the regional referral center for western North Carolina. CMC began its use of the BVA-100 on a clinical trial basis. Following its clinical trial CMC moved forward with a purchase. The Blood Volume Analyzer BVA-100 will reside within the nuclear medicine department and will provide clinical diagnosis of patient blood volumes for various medical conditions.
Daxor Corporation manufactures and markets the BVA-100, a semi-automated Blood Volume Analyzer. The BVA-100 is used in conjunction with Volumex, a single use diagnostic radiopharmaceutical and collection kit. Among nationally renowned hospitals which have purchased the BVA-100 after using it on a clinical trial basis are The Mayo Clinic, The Cleveland Clinic and The NIH.
Evidence that blood volume analysis continues to be recognized as a diagnostic tool to guide therapy in various medical conditions, Daxor reported today that sales of its single use diagnostic kit have increased 40% for the first 9 months as compared to 2005. Additionally, the November 20th issue of the New York Magazine featured an article about the Ten Best Hospitals in the New York, New Jersey, Connecticut region. Four of the ten hospitals currently listed, Columbia Presbyterian, Yale New Haven, New York University Medical Center and North Shore University Hospital currently utilize Daxor's Blood Volume Analyzer BVA-100.
