Dartmouth-Hitchcock, BioLucent Sign Agreement to Provide MammoPad(R) Breast CushionALISO VIEJO, Calif.--(HSMN NewsFeed)--BioLucent, Inc., maker of the MammoPad® breast cushion, today announced a new agreement to provide MammoPad to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. DHMC is a nationally ranked academic medical center serving northern New England.
"To our mammography patients, MammoPad provides a warmer softer experience," said Lin Polen, Administrative Director of Radiology at Dartmouth-Hitchcock. "In addition, we know that we are offering patients a potential clinical benefit with MammoPad. The cushion can help with positioning and including more breast tissue on the mammogram."
MammoPad is a radiolucent, FDA-cleared foam cushion that covers the cold, hard surfaces of all commercially available mammography equipment. Clinical studies show the cushion can reduce mammography-related discomfort by half for three out of four women. The cushion has already benefited more than 10 million women.
"Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center is widely recognized as a healthcare leader," said Kami Jacobsen, BioLucent's Marketing Director. "By providing both MammoPad and digital mammography to all women who receive mammograms, DHMC once again demonstrates its commitment to the highest quality of care for women."
DHMC is made up of Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital, the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Clinic, Dartmouth Medical School, and the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in White River Junction, V.T. DHMC is home to Norris Cotton Cancer Center (a National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center), the Children's Hospital at Dartmouth, an interdisciplinary Spine Center, comprehensive cardiology services, and the region's only Level I Trauma Center.
