Indianapolis' Methodist Hospital Installs Portable CT Scanner from NeuroLogica

'CereTom' to drastically reduce door-to-scan time with for patients in the ER, OR, ICU

DANVERS, Mass.--(HSMN NewsFeed)--NeuroLogica Corporation, a neuroscience-based medical imaging company, today announced that its CereTom(TM) has been installed at the Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. The CereTom is the world's first portable and wireless head and neck mobile CT scanner, and is one of the true innovations that is impacting healthcare on an unprecedented level.

Methodist Hospital is Northwest Indiana's healthcare leader, and stands as the region's leading healthcare provider. Its mission to provide compassionate, quality health service to all those in need is aided by adding the CereTom to its radiology department. The CereTom adds a new dimension of accessibility for its patients who will benefit from its mobility, advancing the already renowned neurology department, as during the first twenty-one working days since being implemented, it has been used for over 90 bedside CT scans. In addition to bedside scans, the CereTom can be used in the intensive care unit, operating room, emergency room and is able to provide top quality images immediately to maximize the standard of care for patients.

"We are excited to have the CereTom at Methodist Hospital," said Eric M. Bailey, CEO and Co-founder of NeuroLogica Corporation. "As a hospital so determined to treat its patients with the best quality of care, they have recognized the innovation and flexibility the CereTom provides in creating access to scan critical care patients in an efficient manor - without having to transport the patient and without sacrificing quality of the imaging."

"Acquiring the CereTom scanner has allowed us to have rapid access to CT scan patients on the neuro critical care unit with brain trauma or stroke symptoms," said Terry Horner, MD, Indianapolis Neurosurgical Group. "We will now be able to scan them in the ER without having to transport them to the larger CT scanners. This allows for quicker diagnosis and is an innovative tool in managing treatment decisions."

The CereTom(TM) is a portable eight slice CT scanner that acquires 1.25MM slices per rotation. It is capable of performing NeCT, CT Perfusion, Xenon Perfusion and CT Angiography. It is also optimal for use in the ICU because it is lightweight, wireless and can be used while the patient is still in their ICU Bed - allowing the physician to monitor Cerebral Blood Flow without disturbing the patient.

The CereTom(TM) is 29 inches long, about five feet tall and four feet wide and weighs approximately 750 pounds, and is designed for use in the ER, OR, ICU, MICU, SICU, NICU, interventional suite or any medical clinic. The system's battery can be recharged in any standard wall outlet and holds enough power to image four to eight patients.

The CereTom(TM) is now installed at 24 hospitals and medical centers across the US and Europe including The Massachusetts General Hospital, Cleveland Clinic, and UCLA Medical Center.
