Arrow International, Inc., Adds Hi-Lite Orange(TM) Tinted ChloraPrep(R) to All Central Venous Access Kits

Exclusive arrangement with Enturia, Inc., makes Arrow the only company to offer this advanced infection-fighting tool as a standard component in all of its Central Venous Access kits.

READING, Pa.--(HSMN NewsFeed)--Arrow International, the world's leading provider of central venous catheter (CVC) products, has announced that it is upgrading the majority of its U.S.-distributed Central Venous Access kits to include Hi-Lite Orange tinted ChloraPrep. An exclusive arrangement with Enturia, Inc., the manufacturer of Hi-Lite Orange tinted ChloraPrep, makes Arrow the only company to offer this invaluable infection-fighting tool in a Central Venous Access kit.

Hi-Lite Orange tinted ChloraPrep highlights the prepped area, adding an extra level of infection risk-reduction confidence to the central venous catheter insertion process. The sterile applicator contains CDC1A-recommended 2 percent chlorhexidine, which delivers antibacterial activity for at least 48 hours--even in the presence of blood and organic matter. The applicator's triangular head allows for precise prepping around catheter lines, and its patented design enables hands-off application.

"The decision to add tinted ChloraPrep to our Central Venous Access kits was a natural extension of our commitment to give medical professionals the best risk-reduction tools available," said Rick Eagle, Vice President, Venous Access, Arrow International. "For those seeking the most comprehensive infection protection possible, Arrow's Maximal Barrier Precautions Tray with tinted ChloraPrep sets a new standard in patient safety and risk reduction."

The Arrow Maximal Barrier Precautions Tray with ARROWg+ard Blue PLUSŪ, now upgraded with Hi-Lite Orange tinted ChloraPrep, is an integrated system for combating the five sources of catheter-related bloodstream infection (CRBSI): environmental contamination, skin flora, post-placement subcutaneous tract infection, intraluminal contamination, and hematogenous seeding. The Arrow Maximal Barrier Precautions Tray also reduces risk by including protective gear and upgraded sharps safety devices. And, its components help ensure compliance with the latest guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) and the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI).

"We are very pleased about this agreement with Arrow, as it fits well within Enturia's vision of helping fight healthcare-associated infections," said Jim Mitchum, president and CEO of Enturia, the maker of ChloraPrep. "This will help ensure that hospitals have access to leading products that have proven success in reducing the risk of catheter-related bloodstream infections."
