Trevi Health Ventures and Peter Hinchliffe Announce the Formation of Interventional & Surgical Innovations, LLC (ISI)
NEW YORK--(HSMN NewsFeed)--Trevi Health Ventures LP and Peter Hinchliffe announce the formation of Interventional & Surgical Innovations, LLC, a new development platform company for early-stage medical device technologies with an initial focus in the cardiovascular space.ISI intends to address market opportunities to transition early-stage technologies into clinically-promising and commercially-viable products. The Company will typically provide funding through the proof-of-concept stage, with the goal of spinning out products into a series of separately-financed vehicles - in which the Company will have significant equity stakes and continue ongoing funding. The Company will analyze potential markets, acquire intellectual property and know-how, complete prototype development, develop and implement clinical programs and, as appropriate, commence commercialization opportunities.
ISI was founded by Trevi Health Ventures and Peter Hinchliffe and will be managed by Mr. Hinchliffe. Mr. Hinchliffe is an experienced medical device executive and entrepreneur with a particular expertise in interventional, cardiac and vascular surgery. Prior to founding ISI, Mr. Hinchliffe held senior management positions at the Interventional and Intervascular divisions of Datascope and prior to that at Tyco Healthcare's US Surgical division.
ISI's Key Clinical Advisor, Professor Frans Moll, Utrecht, the Netherlands.
ISI also announced a strategic relationship with Professor Frans Moll, as clinical advisor to aid in the development of a suite of novel surgical and interventional technologies. Pursuant to that relationship, the Company has entered into a comprehensive license agreement for a number of products already under development.
Professor Frans Moll is a world-renowned vascular surgeon based at Utrecht University in the Netherlands and has played an active role in many new technology introductions over the years. Mr. Hinchliffe commented, "I am thrilled to be teamed with Trevi and Frans to bring to market products based on Frans's recent work, which will address important unmet clinical needs, particularly in the vascular system.
