CereTom(TM) Mobile Brain CT Imaging Machine Enabling More Access and Faster Scans at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital

ER, OR and ICU Will Cut Down Door-to-Scan Time with Installation of NeuroLogica's CereTom(TM)

DANVERS, Mass.--(HSMN NewsFeed)--NeuroLogica Corporation, a neuroscience-based medical imaging company, today announced that its CereTom(TM) mobile CT scanner has been installed at the Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. The CereTom is the world's first portable and wireless head and neck mobile CT scanner, and is one of the true innovations that is impacting healthcare on an unprecedented level.

Ranked as a Level 1 Trauma Center as well as a Certified Primary Stroke Center, Thomas Jefferson University Hospital will now have the ability to immediately scan patients suffering from brain trauma or stroke symptoms in the emergency room. Ultimately, significantly reducing the door-to-scan time at Jefferson will allow for patients to receive a quicker path to treatment based on the results determined within the scan. The CereTom's mobility allows it to be brought bedside into a patient's room, the intensive care unit, the operating room, the emergency room and is able to provide top quality images immediately to physicians to maximize the standard of care for patients.

"We are thrilled that Thomas Jefferson University Hospital has installed the CereTom," said Eric M. Bailey, CEO and Co-founder of NeuroLogica Corporation. "Installing a CereTom in the Philadelphia area will ensure residents receive better access to brain imaging - something that can allow physicians to make the treatment decision to save lives. NeuroLogica's goal is to be in every hospital, in every country to help doctors determine the correct path to treatment for all things neuro."

"The CereTom has provided a new dimension of imaging accessibility for Thomas Jefferson University Hospital," says Robert Rosenwasser, M.D., Chair, Department of Neurosurgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. "We are now able to perform CT scans at the bedside in the ICU. The CereTom makes caring for patients in the NICU much safer by avoiding having to transport patients with elevated ICP or unstable physiologic parameters to other areas of the hospital. Our ability to perform these scans without having to transport the patient is an important advancement in healthcare that ultimately improves patient care."

The CereTom(TM) is a portable eight slice CT scanner that acquires 1.25MM slices per rotation. It is capable of performing NeCT, CT Perfusion, Xenon Perfusion and CT Angiography. It is also optimal for use in the ICU because it is lightweight, wireless and can be used while the patient is still in their ICU Bed - allowing the physician to monitor Cerebral Blood Flow without disturbing the patient.

The CereTom(TM) is 29 inches long, about five feet tall and four feet wide and weighs approximately 750 pounds, and is designed for use in the ER, OR, ICU, MICU, SICU, NICU, interventional suite or any medical clinic. The system's battery can be recharged in any standard wall outlet and holds enough power to image four to eight patients.

The CereTom(TM) is now installed at 24 hospitals and medical centers across the US and Europe including The Massachusetts General Hospital and UCLA Medical Center.
