Cook Vascular Launches BULLDOG(TM) Lead Extender
VANDERGRAFT, Pa.--(HSMN NewsFeed)--Cook Vascular, a Cook Medical company, is pleased to announce the immediate availability of the BULLDOG(TM) Lead Extender for use during cardiac lead removal procedures. The patent pending device has been designed to help physicians grasp and control cardiac leads that do not have a hollow central lumen.A common technical challenge that physicians can encounter during the removal of these "lumenless" leads is that the short external length of the leads may make the controlled advancement of powered or mechanical extraction sheaths over the lead both difficult and unpredictable. Control of the lead during the removal procedure is an important factor for success.
Prior to the BULLDOG Lead Extender's availability, extraction doctors would rely on a simple suture as an extension that would be passed through the extraction sheath and used as a handle. These common surgical sutures are difficult to tie onto the lead, can be frustrating to grasp and can break when force is applied.
To address those issues, the BULLDOG Lead Extender provides a strong anchoring mechanism that can quickly and surely be engaged directly to the lead's central cable. Once attached, the unique Cook twisted wire handle gives the extracting physician the tactile feedback desired when manipulating extraction sheaths.
Cook, the pioneering leader in LEAD EXTRACTION(TM) technologies remains committed to designing and developing innovative and high-quality products for today's lead removal professional.
