Wright Medical Group, Inc. Expands Hip Product Portfolio With Key Product Launches
Introduction of the DYNASTY(TM) Acetabular Cup System, PROFEMUR(R) TL Hip Stem, and GLADIATOR(TM) Bipolar System Enhance the Surgical Flexibility of Wright's Innovative and Versatile Hip Product PortfolioARLINGTON, Tenn.--(HSMN NewsFeed)--Wright Medical Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: WMGI ), a global orthopaedic medical device company, is pleased to announce three key product launches within its line of innovative hip solutions. The new DYNASTY(TM) Acetabular Cup System, PROFEMUR® TL Stem and GLADIATOR(TM) Bipolar System will offer surgeons greater flexibility to address a variety of patient needs in hip arthroplasty.
DYNASTY(TM) Acetabular Cup System
Wright's DYNASTY(TM) Acetabular Cup System combines the benefits of larger diameter femoral heads with the stability of screw fixation and versatility of both metal and cross-linked polyethylene bearing surface options. The system allows increased range of motion and the likelihood of lowered dislocation rates, benefits that are both attributable to larger head diameters. Commenting on the overall flexibility of the system, C. Lowry Barnes, M.D. of Arkansas Specialty Orthopaedics, said, "The intra-operative versatility of the DYNASTY(TM) Cup System, coupled with the availability of larger femoral heads in cups that accept screws when necessary is a real benefit." For even greater flexibility, the DYNASTY(TM) System is compatible with Wright's complete line of PROFEMUR® stems with modular neck technology.
PROFEMUR® TL Stem
The new PROFEMUR® TL Stem combines the flexibility of Wright's modular neck technology with the proven design of a flat tapered wedge geometry stem. The bone-conserving design of the flat tapered wedge stem offers ease of insertion and greater stability within the femoral canal. A key extension to Wright's PROFEMUR® product family, the PROFEMUR® TL System allows surgeons to experience the benefits of modular neck technology among a greater range of proven stem philosophies. Eric L. Hume, M.D., Vice Chief of the Department of Orthopaedics at Cooper University Hospital in New Jersey, expressed, "The marriage of the established metaphyseal-filling stem technology and Wright's modern modular neck technology is a powerful combination that allows me, as a surgeon, to never compromise how I treat each unique patient."
GLADIATOR(TM) Bipolar System
Wright's GLADIATOR(TM) Bipolar acetabular system is a significant evolution in the field of bipolar hip implant designs. The system features a unique cross-linked polyethylene bearing surface with an enhanced lock detail. Historical concerns with traditional bipolar designs have included loosening of the insert, disassociation of the head from the shell, and osteolysis resulting from polyethylene wear. The GLADIATOR(TM) System's cross-linked polyethylene bearing surface and increased lock detail strength are intended to address these concerns to give surgeons greater confidence when using a bipolar implant. The GLADIATOR(TM) Bipolar System is also compatible with Wright's extensive line of PROFEMUR® hip stems.
Wright's PROFEMUR® family of innovative hip solutions includes a number of stem designs, each featuring modular neck technology. The modular neck feature is ideal for minimally invasive hip procedures because it simplifies implant insertion and reduces the risk of soft-tissue damage. The modular neck technology of Wright's PROFEMUR® Hip System also offers surgeons unsurpassed flexibility in addressing a wide range of patient anatomies intraoperatively by allowing them to precisely equalize leg length and balance muscle tension for optimum performance.
"Wright has developed a truly comprehensive line of hip products to meet the critical factors of both surgeon preference and patient need," said Patrick Fisher, Director of Marketing for Wright's Ortho Recon Hip business. "These key product launches within our hip product line emphasize Wright's 'never compromise' approach to providing the quality, versatility and innovation that our surgeons demand and their patients deserve."
