NeuroLogica's CereTom(R): Official CT Scanner for De La Hoya - Mayweather Fight
Eight-slice, Cordless, CT Scanner Selected For Its Easy Portability and Rapid ScansDANVERS, Mass.--(HSMN NewsFeed)--NeuroLogica Corporation, a neuroscience-based medical imaging company, today announced that they will be providing their CereTom® CT as part of the emergency response team for the high-profile Oscar De La Hoya-Floyd Mayweather, Jr. boxing match, set to happen at the MGM Grand, Las Vegas, NV, on May 5.
NeuroLogica, in partnership with the Nevada State Athletic Commission, the sanctioning body for unarmed combat sports events, has outfitted the medical staff with a CereTom unit for the main event, and also for the Telefutura fights Friday, May 4 as well as all the under-card fights May 5. The Company is also providing a certified radiologist, an RT and a technical expert to support the scanning of any fighter who may incur a potential brain injury and require a scan on demand.
"The Nevada State Athletic Commission is very grateful to NeuroLogica for volunteering the use of such an innovative piece of medical technology that will help us provide the best quality of care to the athletes throughout the weekend," said Keith Kizer, Executive Director, Nevada State Athletic Commission. "We are always looking for new ways to improve fight night medical care, and having the CereTom here as part of our medical team is a huge step in the right direction, as we are very mindful of the risks that our athletes face."
"We feel that all athletes deserve the best diagnosis and fastest path to medical care," says Eric Bailey, CEO, president and co-founder of NeuroLogica Corporation. "We're pleased that the Nevada State Athletic Commission and MGM recognize how the CereTom can help in being part of this event, and we want to ensure that each fighter has access to a scan on demand if prescribed by the ringside physicians."
The CereTom is optimal for use in boxing events because it is portable, lightweight, wireless allowing for immediate access to a timely CT scan, allowing for a full neurological scan in 30 seconds. This is critical, especially in the event of brain injury, as the image and corresponding readings can then be transmitted to the facility that will receive the fighter upon transport. The CereTom portable CT Scanner shortens the 'ring-to-scan' time, putting an injured fighter on the best path to treatment, eliminating the need to transport first and scan once the fighter has been transported.
The CereTom(TM) is 29 inches long, about five feet tall and four feet wide and weighs approximately 750 pounds, and is designed for use in the ER, OR, ICU, MICU, SICU, NICU, interventional suite or any medical clinic. The system's battery can be recharged in any standard wall outlet and holds enough power to image four to eight patients.
