Siemens Medical Solutions Revolutionizes Electrophysiology With syngo(R) DynaCT Cardiac

Enhancement Enables 3D Visualization of the Left Atrium, Reducing the Need for Pre-Procedural CT or MR Imaging, and Facilitating Improved Workflow

MALVERN, Pa.--(HSMN NewsFeed)--Siemens announces the latest innovation in electrophysiology (EP) solutions with the introduction of syngo® DynaCT Cardiac, which enables 3D imaging comparable to computed tomography (CT) in the EP lab during procedures. Building upon Siemens' breakthrough syngo DynaCT technology, this solution enhances diagnostic and therapeutic capabilities by enabling electrophysiologists for the first time to visualize the left atrium in 3D during complex cardiac procedures, virtually eliminating the need for time-consuming pre-procedural CT or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) exams. syngo DynaCT Cardiac will be featured in the Siemens booth (# 129) at the 28th Annual Scientific Sessions of the Heart Rhythm Society from May 9 through May 12 in Denver.

During an interventional procedure in which CT scans are required, moving the patient out of the sterile environment and onto a CT scanner can be cumbersome and pose risk of complications. syngo DynaCT Cardiac enables CT-like imaging to be performed directly in the EP lab without loss of time or added risk to the patient.

This solution enables electrophysiologists to precisely navigate catheters and guidewires through the vessels and chambers of the heart, improving the speed and accuracy of catheter-based procedures.
• CARTO(TM) XP EP Navigation System - The CARTO(TM) XP EP Navigation System from Biosense Webster was the first 3D electroanatomical navigation system. Providing excellent views into the electrical activity of the heart through real-time data on 3D, color-coded cardiac maps, it provides precise tracking of catheter location, facilitating an accurate diagnosis.

Siemens' syngo DynaCT Cardiac technology enhances diagnostic and therapeutic capabilities in the interventional suite by enabling the acquisition of soft tissue images with AXIOM Artis small and large detector systems. Up until the introduction of syngo DynaCT Cardiac, 3D angiography only enabled the visualization of high-contrast objects such as stents, clips, bones and contrast-filled vessels during interventional procedures. With the introduction of syngo DynaCT Cardiac, it is now possible to obtain soft tissue information while performing interventional procedures, which improves physician decision-making and thus helps provide better patient management.
