UltraShape(TM) Introduces Second Generation CONTOUR I at EADV Annual Meeting

Company Hosts Non-Invasive Body Contouring Symposium and Featured in Hot Topics Panel

YOQNEAM, Israel and SAN RAMON, California, May 14 (HSMN NewsFeed) -- UltraShape Ltd., a global leader in non-invasive body contouring, will introduce the UltraShape(TM) CONTOUR I ver 2 at the upcoming 2007 European Academy of Dermatology and Venearology (EADV) annual meeting. The upgraded system represents the latest in non-invasive body contouring technology based on focused ultrasound. It features new software and a new illumination system to improve power management and performance of the tracking and guidance system to optimize the UltraShape experience. The launch comes just two months after UltraShape's CONTOUR I was named "Product of the Year" by the Ultrasonic Industry Association.

The company will host an educational symposium at EADV entitled "Emerging Practices in Non-Invasive Body Contouring," chaired by Dr. Ami Glicksman, plastic surgeon and co-founder of UltraShape. The symposium will feature recent experience with UltraShape's clinically-proven focused ultrasound solution for targeting and disrupting fat cells safely and effectively. In addition, UltraShape will be highlighted in a European Society for Cosmetic & Aesthetic Dermatology (ESCAD) Hot Topics panel held in conjunction with the EADV Congress.

"We are dedicated to providing a non-invasive treatment platform that safely delivers measurable circumference reduction and body contouring," said Rodger Stewart, President and Chief Executive Officer of UltraShape. "These significant technology improvements to the CONTOUR I demonstrate our commitment to further enhancing the UltraShape experience for clinicians and patients worldwide."

The UltraShape(TM) procedure is performed during a convenient, "walk-in, walk-out" session carried out in an office-based environment. The procedure requires no anesthesia or sedation, with insignificant reported instances of patient discomfort. After treatment, patients immediately resume their daily routines and there is no need for maintenance treatments. The UltraShape procedure is available in 46 countries and over 30,000 treatments have been performed worldwide with high patient satisfaction.

Features of UltraShape CONTOUR I ver 2

The UltraShape CONTOUR I, based on patented focused ultrasound technology, is the first clinically proven non-invasive body contouring solution for both men and women. It is designed to target and disrupt fat cells, leaving surrounding structures such as skin, blood vessels, and nerves intact. Results from UltraShape's peer-reviewed published multi-center controlled clinical trial and independent clinical studies have demonstrated the safe and effective clearance of lysed fat cells, and measurable fat thickness and circumference reduction. The UltraShape procedure is guided by proprietary real-time tracking and guidance software designed to deliver smooth, uniform body contouring results. The software guarantees adherence to a pre-determined treatment algorithm minimizing the risk of contour irregularities, a common side effect of liposuction, which is a highly technique-sensitive surgical procedure.

New features of the CONTOUR I ver 2 include new software providing improved power management, enabling the clinician to control power levels for optimal treatment. The software also has an optimized tracking and guidance system and 3-D treatment mapping based on advanced algorithms. Additionally, the new icon-based graphic user interface is more intuitive and user-friendly, resulting in reduced treatment time. A new illumination system incorporates the latest in LED based technology with an integrated camera, which provides more precise lighting to optimize performance of the tracking and guidance system. The LED lighting also provides softer lighting for an overall enhanced patient experience.

The UltraShape CONTOUR I has CE Mark approval and was recently granted a HealthCanada license. It is not cleared by the FDA for marketing in the United States.
