HealthTronics Announces TotalRad(TM) Radiation Therapy Solution

AUSTIN, Texas--(HSMN NewsFeed)--HealthTronics, Inc. (NASDAQ:HTRN ), a leading provider of urology services and products, today announces its newest growth initiative -- TotalRad(TM) Radiation Therapy Solutions.

Over the last year, the company has invested heavily in research and planning the execution of its newest key growth initiative, TotalRad(TM) Radiation Therapy Solutions. TotalRad(TM) provides best-in-class Image Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT) technology within a turn-key exclusive partnership offering. It represents an evolutionary jump for our urologist partners in their ability to manage and treat the prostate cancer patient, to differentiate their practice, and to develop new revenue streams, while mitigating the hurdles typically associated with such a large investment.

Integral to the success of this initiative was the identification of the leader for this venture. James Whittenburg, President of Urology Services, commented: "Mark Koeniguer joins HealthTronics as Vice President of Radiation Therapies. Mr. Koeniguer brings over 18 years of Sales Leadership and General Management experience with both emerging and established companies in the healthcare industry. Mark has a demonstrated track record of creating and leading high-performance teams, launching new products and services and capturing market share." Prior to HealthTronics, Mark was the Global Vice President of Sales for R2 Technology, a leading Computer Aided Detection company based out of Sunnyvale, CA. He helped lead a successful turn-around and eventual sale to Hologic, Inc. He also spent 14 years with GE Healthcare in key leadership positions within Sales, Operations, Quality and Finance. Whittenburg added, "Mark's broad background will serve him well in this new role and we are excited to have him as part of the leadership team."

Mark Koeniguer, Vice President of Radiation Therapies, remarked, "TotalRad combines the best technology along with the expertise of our primary clinician partners to provide the best in patient care. In the past, Urologists have had several significant barriers to entry that limited their access to radiation therapy technology including: small practice sizes, patient throughput, larGE Capital investments, and complex regulatory and construction issues. Other operational issues like technology obsolescence, complex workflow, scheduling/billing, and imaging challenges were also roadblocks. TotalRad mitigates these concerns with a partnership solution designed to meet the needs of our Urology partners, while providing the best in class continuum of care for the patient."

HealthTronics is a premier urology company providing an exclusive suite of healthcare services and technology including urologist partnership opportunities, surgical and capital imaging equipment, maintenance services offerings, and clinical and anatomical pathology services.
