Cardiac Science Deploys Powerheart(TM) AEDs in Train Stations Across The NetherlandsNederlandse Spoorwegen Orders 220 Powerheart AEDs
BOTHELL, Wash., June 5 (HSMN NewsFeed) -- Cardiac Science Corporation (Nasdaq: CSCX ), a global leader in advanced cardiac monitoring and external defibrillation products, announced today that Nederlandse Spoorwegen (NS), the national train operator in the Netherlands, has placed an order for 220 Powerheart® G3 Automatic automated external defibrillators (AEDs).
NS operates the rail system throughout the Netherlands, which transports more than one million passengers each day.
"AEDs should be easily accessible in any place that is used heavily by the public, and a train station is no exception," said Garry Norris, Cardiac Science vice president, marketing. "Cardiac Science is experienced at creating heart-safe environments in transport systems. More than 350 Powerheart AEDs are deployed in railway stations in England, and a significant number of Powerheart AEDs are deployed in several high-traffic, mass-transit environments in the United States.
"According to the American Heart Association, the chances of surviving a sudden cardiac arrest diminish approximately seven to 10% with each minute that passes following the event," Mr. Norris continued. "On a moving train or a crowded station where emergency personnel may not be on-hand, reliable, accessible and easy-to-use AEDs are particularly imperative. We commend NS for taking this step to support the heart health of its passengers."
"The safety of our passengers and staff is a top priority," said Mr. Senol Demirel, NS' Occupational Health Advisor. "After a fair review of companies, we chose Powerheart because the device offers rescuers ease of use, advanced technology and reliability through extensive self testing, as well as its compatibility with European Resuscitation Council Guidelines for Resuscitation. Plus it has excellent Dutch language voice prompts. By installing AEDs throughout the Netherlands rail system, everyone who passes through the stations can be assured that they are in a heart safe environment."
Powerheart brand automated external defibrillators provide reliable, safe, and easy to use cardiac monitoring and defibrillation technology. Powerheart AEDs feature RHYTHMx(TM) software which detects abnormal heart rhythms, determines whether they are life-threatening, and only delivers a shock when needed. Powerheart AEDs also feature the patented RescueReady® technology, which automatically tests the device on a frequent basis to ensure continued functionality. Powerheart's STAR® Biphasic Waveform Technology provides levels of escalating energy customized to the patient. Powerheart AEDs are used by hospitals, police and fire departments, as well as many public access facilities including major corporations, public agencies, airlines and airports, arenas, schools, hotels, casinos and consumers.
