Healthcare Industry News: retractor
News Release - June 27, 2007
'See Through' GhosTract(TM) Blades Bring New Visibility to Spine SurgeryST. PAUL, Minn., June 27 (HSMN NewsFeed) -- Omni-Tract Surgical, Inc., a market leader in table-mounted surgical retractors, announces the introduction of their new GhosTract radiolucent retractor kit. GhosTract retractor blades are designed to retract tissue during anterior lumbar spine procedures. Because these procedures access the spine via an incision in the patient's abdomen, retractors must be used to maintain a pathway to the spine. The most commonly used retractors are stainless steel, which blocks the intra-operative imaging necessary during these procedures. GhosTract retractor blades, by comparison, are designed to be translucent, allowing the X-ray to "see through" the retractor blades.
"Time is precious in the operating room," said Steve Errington, Product Manager for Omni-Tract Surgical. "By using radiolucent retractor blades that are nearly invisible on X-ray, the surgeon no longer needs to remove or reposition the blades every time they want to take an image."
GhosTract retractor blades come in a set and are designed to be compatible with almost any table-mounted retractor, including Omni-Tract Surgical's systems, as well as most competitive ring retractors.
