HealthTronics Announces Update on Condition of CEOAUSTIN, Texas--(HSMN NewsFeed)--HealthTronics, Inc. (NASDAQ:HTRN ), a leading provider of urology services and products, today announced an update on the condition of its Chief Executive Officer, Sam B. Humphries, who was hospitalized May 21, 2007 as a result of a cardiac event. At this time, Mr. Humphries remains in the hospital and continues to recover. In the interest of allowing Mr. Humphries to focus on his health, the Company has limited its communications with him to the subject of his health, and has communicated with him primarily through his immediate family. While Mr. Humphries is still expected to recover, it is difficult to assess when he might be able to return to the Company.
R. Steven Hicks, Chairman of the Board, said, "Our thoughts continue to be with Sam and his family at this difficult time. We extend our best wishes and strongest support to Sam and his family."
James Whittenburg, President of the Company's Urology Services Division, continues to serve as acting President and Chief Executive Officer pursuant to appointment by the Company's Board of Directors. "We are confident that James will continue to lead the Company effectively during this time," said Mr. Hicks.
