INBONE Launches Small Bone Fusion System Nationwide

Clinical Data With Two-Year Follow up Demonstrates Rapid Fusion Rates

BERKELEY, Calif.--(HSMN NewsFeed)--INBONE Technologies announced the nationwide release of the INBONE(TM) Fusion System, the only small bone fusion product for the foot that offers intramedullary fixation. The product release coincides with the publication of a 45-patient retrospective study, co-authored by Andrea Cracchiolo, MD, UCLA Medical and Mark Reiley, MD, the inventor, which reveals consistently accelerated fusion rates with the INBONE system.

The INBONE(TM) Fusion System consists of plasma spray coated titanium rods and plates which are surgically implanted within the bone to fuse from the inside out. This unique, intramedullary approach affords advantageous biomechanical position, and requires significantly less soft tissue stripping than other fixation products. Additionally, the bony in-growth coating multiplies the surface area involved in the fusion, thereby increasing the speed of union. As a result, patients are experiencing a faster return to weight bearing activity. Clinical data from the first 45 patients has demonstrated time-to-fusion rates of 4-10 weeks in cases of the fore-, mid- and hindfoot; including subtalar arthrodesis, which is approximately twice as fast as traditional solutions.

Dr. Mark A. Reiley, foot and ankle orthopedist and inventor of the INBONE(TM) Fusion System, stated "I was often disappointed with how long it took for traditional plate and screw fixation to heal, so I spent years thinking about and developing a new way to solve this problem. I'm glad to see that the new INBONE system is getting patients back on their feet quickly, and that the technology will be available to patients nationwide."

INBONE Technologies also markets the INBONE Total Ankle(TM) System; a modular prosthesis offering the most substantial anchoring available in the total ankle market. The INBONE TAR recently surpassed 100 implantations; 96% of which were primary arthroplasty.

The beginning of the nationwide rollout of the INBONE Technologies Fusion System coincides with the AOFAS meeting in Toronto July 12 - 14th. The company is holding a launch and educational event on Friday July 13th from 4PM -6PM in the Pier 9 room at the Westin Hotel. Speakers at the event will include Dr James DeOrio of Duke Univrsity, Dr. Hani Haider of the University of Nebraska and Dr. Sameh Labib of Emory University. Surgeons are invited to attend the Friday session, but are asked to RSVP to Michelle Kliszewski at michellek@inbone.com prior to the event.
