Oakland Raiders First NFL Team to Embrace Clinical Diagnosis of Concussions from the Sidelines

Raiders Turn to NeuroLogica's CereTom(R) Portable CT Scanner to Usher in a New Era of Protecting Players Against Serious Brain Injuries

DANVERS, Mass.--(HSMN NewsFeed)--NeuroLogica Corporation, a neuroscience-based medical imaging company, today announced that The Oakland Raiders will use the CereTomĀ® portable and cordless CT scanner on site during the 2007 NFL season. The Raiders are the first NFL team to incorporate a technology that will allow for on-site and rapid assessment and diagnosis of head injuries. The CereTom produces instant high-quality images of the neck and head to diagnose various brain injuries and brain bleeds, as well as injuries occurring in the extremities including elbows, knees and ankles.

"Player safety is of paramount importance to us. We felt that the best interest of the Raiders organization was to ensure our players have access to this technology," said The Oakland Raiders.

The CereTom allows a player to be scanned and diagnosed within minutes of leaving the field. The CereTom's portability and small size allows it to be used anywhere in the stadium, including the locker room and training room. Scans will be instantly and wirelessly transmitted to a radiologist for diagnosis. The CereTom can also be used to scan and diagnose injuries occurring in the extremities within minutes from when they occur - which is more effective, efficient and comprehensive than the X-ray scans currently used by many NFL teams.

"We are thrilled that The Oakland Raiders will be using the CereTom," said Eric C. Bailey, CEO, NeuroLogica Corporation. "We support all the NFL teams that are taking measures to protect their players from the dangers of concussions. As with all head injuries, 'time is brain,' meaning that the quicker you receive quality medical diagnosis, the better the chances are to a faster path to treatment and improved outcomes."

The CereTom will also be available to visiting teams, should their players sustain an injury in Oakland.

NeuroLogica recently received accolades from medical staff ringside at the Oscar De La Hoya - Floyd Mayweather fight on May 5, as the company provided the CereTom to scan boxers post-fight. The company scanned eight boxers following fights throughout the weekend, and potentially saved one athlete's life by identifying a brain bleed that otherwise may have gone undiagnosed had he not been scanned. The CereTom was also present at the Indianapolis 500, where it scanned drivers in the middle of the infield.
