U-Systems, Inc. Launches State of the Art Corporate Site and Introduces SomoSynthesis(TM), a New Dimension in Breast Ultrasound

Leader in Automated Breast Ultrasound Delivers an Innovative Web Solution on Breast Imaging and Women's Health

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(HSMN NewsFeed)--U-Systems, Inc. and Body1, Inc. announced the launch of a new website in women's health and breast imaging, This website provides U-Systems with a powerful on-line presence, reinforcing its position as the leader in automated breast ultrasound.

Breast ultrasound has long been established as a preferred modality for diagnostic breast imaging, especially in women with dense breasts. Dense breast tissue is a major contributor to missed cancers by x-ray mammography. Ultrasound can penetrate dense breast tissue and provide high quality images to detect cancers that cannot be seen by conventional x-ray mammography. It is estimated that 40-50% of women in the U.S. and Europe, and 60 to 70% of women in Asia have dense breast tissue. A recent New England Journal of Medicine article stated that breast density should be considered an independent risk factor for breast cancer.

With the advent of U-Systems automated breast ultrasound with SomoSynthesis(TM), radiologists now have standardized, reproducible, 3-D views of the breast enabling improved diagnostic confidence.

"U-Systems' mission is to assist the clinician in the early detection of breast cancer through the use of cost-effective ultrasound systems," said Joe Pepper, President and CEO of U-Systems. "We consider the web one of the most effective vehicles to keep both clinicians and the public informed on the rapidly changing events in breast imaging, women's health and in our laboratories. We have selected Body1, the best web based solutions provider serving the medical device industry, to provide an advanced web based solution to meet our needs."

Separate navigational paths have been developed for Healthcare Professionals and for Patients & Families. The Healthcare Professional can view images acquired by the SomoVu(TM), The U-Systems Automated Breast Ultrasound System, using the coronal view to illustrate the anatomy of the breast from nipple to chest wall. For patients and their families, there is a tutorial on breast screening and a video depicting a SomoVu(TM) exam.

"We are delighted to be working with U-Systems on their website as a first step in their interactive marketing and education program," said Chris Messina, CEO of Body1, Inc. "Their commitment to helping patients and clinicians is impressive. Body1 is executing on that vision to position U-Systems as the leader online."
