Scale Venture Partners Promotes Nancy Lynch, M.D., To Principal
Lynch to Continue Focus on Identifying Healthcare InvestmentsFOSTER CITY, Calif., Sept. 12 (HSMN NewsFeed) -- Scale Venture Partners today announced that it has promoted Nancy Lynch, M.D., to Principal. Nancy joined the ScaleVP team as an Associate in July 2006 after completing her Masters in Business Administration degree, with a concentration in Health Sector Management, at Duke University's Fuqua School of Business.
"During the last year, Nancy has made significant contributions to the team, identifying innovative companies in the areas of orthopedics, diabetes and obesity," said Lou Bock, Managing Director, ScaleVP. "We and our portfolio companies benefit from her extensive medical experience, and this promotion recognizes that."
While a graduate business student at Duke University, Nancy developed and chaired a conference entitled, "Addressing Diabesity®: The Role of Business in Confronting an Epidemic." Prior to attending business school, Nancy was a practicing orthopedic hand surgeon with Orthopedic Healthcare Northwest, P.C., in Eugene, OR for eight years. During that time, she completed a special fellowship in hand and micro-vascular surgery with the AO International Foundation in Bern, Switzerland.
A Board-certified orthopedic surgeon, AAOS fellow, and fellowship-trained hand surgeon, Nancy completed her residency, serving as Chief Resident, at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine and her fellowship at the Indiana Hand Center. She graduated from the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. She holds a B.A. in Pre-professional Studies and Psychology from the University of Notre Dame.
During 2007, Scale Venture Partners has completed its first institutional fundraising, announced funding for four companies, and completed five exits, including the IPOs of Orexigen Therapeutics and Glu Mobile. An early healthcare investment for the firm, IPC The Hospitalist Company, Inc., also recently filed an S-1.
