SpineVision(R) Appoints Luis Aparicio as Company's First PediGuard Sales Rep for State of Texas
SAN FRANCISCO--(HSMN NewsFeed)--SpineVision® announced today that it has appointed Luis Aparicio as the Company's first direct salesman for its PediGuard(TM) device. Mr. Aparicio will be responsible for the State of Texas territory, effective immediately.Previously, Mr. Aparicio was employed by CenterPulse SpineTech (Zimmer Spine) since 2003 as a sales representative headquartered in Austin, Tex. Earlier in his career, Mr. Aparicio held direct sales positions at two other spine companies, for whom he was also headquartered in Austin.
PediGuard(TM) is the first and only FDA-cleared Class II device for real-time electronic detection of possible penetration outside the vertebral pedicle. Accuracy of pedicle screw placement is an important issue in spine surgery: published rates of intraoperatively 'misplaced' pedicle screws range from 10 to 40 percent, some of which result in pathological consequences such as spinal cord damage, including paraplegia or quadriplegia. Consequently, liability risks for spine surgeons are high. PediGuard is the first patented, wireless, handheld instrument capable of accurately detecting changes in tissue type, thus alerting surgeons to potential pedicular or vertebral breaches during pedicle screw site preparation. Real-time feedback is provided to surgeons via audio and visual signals, giving them new additional information. The use of PediGuard requires no change in surgical technique.
