Elekta Wins Tender To Supply New Hospital in Austria a with Comprehensive Solution for Advanced Radiation Therapy

STOCKHOLM, Sweden--(HSMN NewsFeed)--Regulatory News:
Elekta (STO:EKTAB) today announced an order from Vocklabruck Hospital in the region of Upper Austria. Valued at approx. EUR 5 M, the 10-year agreement includes supplying a brand new oncology department with fully digital IMRT and IGRT treatment systems, as well as software for networking, information management and treatment planning.

Vocklabruck Hospital is a newly built facility which has been declared one of the most modern in Europe. Now in process of opening up a new radiooncology department, physicians and administrators conducted an in-depth evaluation of available treatment systems and information management software systems.

Radiation therapy is currently undergoing rapid development. Volumetric (3D) imaging integrated with the treatment equipment, highly precise patient fixation and positioning as well as support for smooth workflow, are all necessities for conducting modern radiation therapy. The ambition of the radiation oncology staff in Vocklabruck is to provide the citizens of the region with the best available treatment for cancer tumors. With experience from other hospitals in working with equipment from different suppliers, the Vocklabruck team conducted a thorough technology evaluation and found Elekta to be the supplier to best meet their demanding criteria.

At the new radiooncology department, two Elekta Synergy® systems will be installed in the spring of 2008. Together with these, the hospital will use MOSAIQ(TM) electronic medical records developed by IMPAC Medical Systems, patient fixation and positioning technology developed by Medical Intelligence and treatment planning software from 3D Line. IMPAC Medical Systems, Medical Intelligence, and 3D Line are all part of the Elekta Group. Elekta will also assume responsibility for service and support for a period of 10 years.

"We are proud to enter into this long-term agreement with Vocklabruck Hospital, promising high quality treatment for patients in the region", comments Emil Hensler, Business Unit Manager for Elekta in Austria. "The result of this tender process is also a proof of Elekta's success in bringing together advanced technology from different companies in the Elekta Group into one comprehensive and attractive offering", ends Hensler.
