Barnev, Inc. Names Douglas Smith Chief Financial Officer

Smith has over 25 years of financial executive experience, including 9 years in the medical device and biotech industries. Prior to joining Barnev, Smith was the CFO for Axya Medical, Inc., a provider of knotless Fixation Systems for minimally invasive surgery. At Axya, he oversaw all financial management including financial systems, reporting, and budgeting during the firm’s raising of $7M of venture financing in 2005, subsequent sale for $22M in 2006, and post-merger integration in 2007.
Smith has also held various senior-level finance positions with OmniSonics Medical Technologies, Insulet Inc., Boston Medical Technologies, and Avicena Group, Inc. Prior to entering the medical device industry, Smith spent 10 years at Thinking Machines Corporation and 7 years at Arthur Andersen & Co.
