Beckman Coulter Signs Agreements With MedAssets; Renews Chemistry, Automation and Immunoassay

FULLERTON, Calif., Nov. 7 (HSMN NewsFeed) -- Beckman Coulter, Inc. (NYSE: BEC ), a leading manufacturer of diagnostics instruments in the U.S., announced that it has renewed agreements valued at approximately $94 million per year with MedAssets Supply Chain Systems. MedAssets is one of the nation's largest healthcare group purchasing organizations, serving more than 125 health systems, including 2,500 hospitals.

Under the terms of the new three-year agreements, MedAssets members will continue to purchase automation, general chemistry, immunoassay, and integrated workcell systems from Beckman Coulter. The renewals complement existing agreements for Hematology, Flow Cytometry and Coagulation systems, already on contract with MedAssets.

In making the decision, Mary Ellen Kimmeth, MedAssets vice president of Laboratory Division and Capital Equipment Services, said, "MedAssets provides our members with cost-effective solutions that are critical to their success.
