Cook Medical Introduces the 36mm Diameter Zenith Renu(R) AAA Ancillary Graft at the 34th Annual VEITHsymposium

Graft's New Diameter Size Designed to Treat Greater Patient Population with Large Proximal Necks

NEW YORK--(HSMN NewsFeed)--Cook Medical today announced the launch of its 36mm Diameter Cook Zenith Renu® AAA Ancillary Graft at the 34th annual VEITHsymposium, a five-day rapid-fire event featuring presentations by world renowned vascular surgeons, interventional radiologists, interventional cardiologists and other vascular specialists. Cook’s Zenith Renu Graft is a state-of-the-art device designed for secondary endovascular intervention in patients who received prior endovascular repair of infrarenal AAAs. With a wider diameter, the graft enables physicians to treat patients with larger proximal necks who previously may not have been candidates for secondary endovascular repair.

Cook’s Zenith 36mm Diameter Renu AAA Ancillary Graft is specifically intended to treat abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) patients whose implanted stent-grafts may have shifted. This migration can result in leakage of blood into the aneurysmal sac, ultimately placing the patient at increased risk of aneurysm rupture. The Cook Zenith 36mm Diameter Renu Graft serves as a versatile and durable solution to this difficult and often life-threatening complication.

The wider diameter graft is available in both the main body extension and converter. Both parts feature suprarenal fixation and controlled delivery with the H&L-B One-Shot Introduction System. Cook’s Zenith 36mm Diameter Renu Graft has been engineered to treat migrations in either Dacron or ePTFE membrane-based aortic endografts. Like the Cook Zenith AAA Endovascular Graft, the device utilizes an uncovered suprarenal stent with anchoring barbs to provide strong proximal fixation and enhanced graft-to-vessel sealing. Its lightweight, strong, shrink-resistant woven synthetic polyester graft material is the same technology used in all Cook Zenith endografts.

“We are excited to introduce the 36mm Zenith Renu Graft, a unique device designed to help a much broader range of AAA patients with endograft migration,” said Barry Thomas, vice president of Cook’s Aortic Intervention strategic business unit. “A world-class vascular innovation forum like the VEITHsymposium is undoubtedly the ideal event at which to launch our latest addition to the AAA family.”

The Cook Zenith 36mm Diameter Renu AAA Ancillary Graft is now available for sale in the United States. Cook expects to launch the device in Europe and Asia in 2008. For more information on the Cook Zenith 36mm Diameter Renu AAA Ancillary Graft, visit www.zenithstentgraft.com.
