SV Life Sciences Adds Medical Device Executive to MedTech Team

Former IntraLase CEO, Robert Palmisano, Joins SVLS as Venture Partner

BOSTON & SAN FRANCISCO--(HSMN NewsFeed)--SV Life Sciences Advisers, LLC (“SVLS”) today announced that Robert J. Palmisano has joined the firm as a venture partner. Mr. Palmisano was most recently Chief Executive Officer and Director of IntraLase (Nasdaq:ILSE ), which was acquired by Advanced Medical Optics (NYSE:EYE ) earlier this year in a transaction totaling over $800 million.

Mr. Palmisano was formerly president, CEO and a director of IntraLase Corp. from April 2003 to May 2007, prior to that company’s acquisition. From April 2001 to April 2003, he was the president, CEO and a director of MacroChem Corporation, a development-stage pharmaceutical corporation. From April 1997 to January 2001, he served as president and CEO and a director of Summit Autonomous, Inc., a global medical products company that was acquired by Alcon, Inc. in October 2000, in a transaction nearing $1 billion. Prior to 1997, he held various executive positions with Bausch & Lomb Incorporated, a global eye care company. Mr. Palmisano currently is a director of Advanced Medical Optics, Inc. (NYSE:EYE ), Osteotech, Inc. (Nasdaq:OSTE ) and Orometrix, Inc. Mr. Palmisano earned his bachelor's degree from Providence College.
