Cardinal Health Launches Industry's Most Comfortable Surgical Gown

RoyalSilk(TM) Gown Launched at 55th Annual AORN Congress

ANAHEIM, Calif., April 1 (HSMN NewsFeed) -- Cardinal Health, a global provider of products and services that improve the safety and productivity of health care, has introduced a new surgical gown made from a unique and proprietary fabric that is softer to the skin than other surgical gowns, improving comfort for clinicians. The announcement was made today at the 55th Annual Congress for the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN).

The new RoyalSilk(TM) surgical gown expands Cardinal Health's infection prevention apparel line and offers the additional benefits of improved comfort for operating room staff. Intended for general procedures that involve moderate to minimal fluid, the RoyalSilk(TM) gown provides AAMI Level 3 protection from blood, liquid and other potentially infectious material.

Surgical gowns are designed to protect patients from contaminants that health care workers may carry and safeguard the surgical team from infection by shielding them from blood, liquid and other potentially infectious material that can carry viruses and bacteria from one area to another.

"Customers have long been asking for a surgical gown that places softness and comfort on the same level of importance as protection and safety," said Debra Schotz, Cardinal Health's vice president of marketing for Convertors® products. "The RoyalSilk(TM) gown achieves this balance by draping the wearer in breathable softness and providing the protection the surgical team counts on. We worked extensively with surgeons and nurses on designing and testing this new offering, and we believe customers will be very receptive to this."
