ESTECH to Highlight New Least Invasive Valve (LiV) Kits at American Association for Thoracic Surgery 88th Annual Meeting
New LiV Instruments and Cannula Enable Cardiac Surgeons to Perform Valve Replacement Procedures in High Risk Patients With Greatly Reduced MortalityLiV Procedure Is Established as Current Standard of Care and Will Challenge Percutaneous Techniques
SAN DIEGO--(HSMN NewsFeed)--ESTECH will showcase its new CG LiV Kits™ at the American Association for Thoracic Surgery 88th Annual Meeting in San Diego, an international meeting where cardiothoracic surgeons learn the most up-to-date information on research and surgical techniques, including Least Invasive Valve repair and replacement procedures. ESTECH in conjunction with New York University Medical Center surgeons, have developed specialized LiV Kits to enable Mitral and Aortic Valve procedures.
Eugene Grossi, M.D., Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery at New York University Medical Center and author of a recently published paper in The Annals of Thoracic Surgery, a paper that included five year follow-up on 731 patients stated, “Percutaneous aortic valve replacement (PAVR) trials are ongoing in patients with elevated EuroSCOREs, which are patients believed to have high mortality rates and poor long-term prognoses with valve replacement surgery. However, our results show that the LiV procedure offers surgical results available today in this same target population with a 45% reduction in mortality compared with conventional surgery, and excellent five year survival in high risk patients.”
The ESTECH CG LiV Kits were developed to allow surgeons to safely and easily implement the advanced heart valve techniques developed at NYU. These kits deliver the highest quality devices with cutting edge technology into the hands of cardiac surgeons who want to offer their patients a least invasive surgical approach. Least invasive surgical procedures can thus provide patients with a quicker recovery and a faster return to normal activities.
Mike Dominici, Director of Marketing at ESTECH said, “The CG LiV Kits, represent a major advance in least invasive techniques for both Aortic and Mitral valve disease. The Mitral & Aortic Valve Kits include the new ClearView MV™ Atrial Depressor, Soft Tissue Atraumatic Retractor and EasyFlow Aortic, RAP Femoral Venous & FlexFlow Venous cannula and COBRA Cooled™ Surgical Probe that allow surgeons to gain better exposure of the valves thus enhancing the ability for surgeons to do a superior repair or replacement with the smallest of incisions.”
