University HealthSystem Consortium Names Jacob J. Groenewold as Vice President for Supply Chain

OAK BROOK, Ill., Sept. 12 (HSMN NewsFeed) -- Today, the University HealthSystem Consortium (UHC) announced that Jacob (Jake) J. Groenewold will join the organization as Vice President, Supply Chain, effective October 13, 2008.

As Vice President, Supply Chain, Mr. Groenewold will be responsible for establishing and executing the strategic direction for UHC's supply chain services, including collaboration with UHC's contracting services company, Novation. He will lead initiatives that maximize the value UHC's services deliver to help members achieve and sustain their supply chain performance goals.

Mr. Groenewold has more than 25 years of experience in healthcare supply chain management and comes to UHC from Consorta, Inc. where he served as Vice President, Supply Chain/Member Services since 2002. Prior to 2002, Mr. Groenewold held leadership positions with Premier, Inc., Owens & Minor, Inc., and Lutheran General Health System in Park Ridge, Ill.

A native of the Chicago area, Mr. Groenewold received his BBA from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Mich., and received his MBA from DePaul University in Chicago. He has been a featured speaker at national supply chain conferences and is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Health Care Financial Management Association, Association for Healthcare Resource & Materials Management, and the Council of Logistics Management. Mr. Groenewold serves on the Board of Timothy Christian School, which is located in Elmhurst, Ill.

UHC's executive search for this position was assisted by Furst Group, a highly-regarded search firm specializing in healthcare that is based in Rockford, Ill.
