Leading UK Hospital First to Install FORE-SIGHT Absolute Cerebral Oximetry

BRANFORD, Conn., Sept. 1-- (Healthcare Sales & Marketing Network) -- CAS Medical Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:CASM ) announced today that it has successfully completed the first installation of FORE-SIGHT(r) Absolute Cerebral Oximeters in the UK with the purchase of five monitors by the Lancashire Cardiac Centre in Blackpool, Lancashire UK for use in its Operating Rooms and Intensive Care Units.

"The decision to convert to FORE-SIGHT Cerebral Oximetry was based on evaluating what was best for our patients," said Dr. Mike Hartley, Consultant Cardiothoracic Anaesthetist at the Lancashire Cardiac Centre. "It is vitally important for us to incorporate technologies that will help us to improve patient care. With FORE-SIGHT, we believe that we will be able to better detect and resolve problems with cerebral perfusion before they can negatively impact patients."

CASMED's President and CEO, Andrew E. Kersey, stated, "We are delighted that, after evaluating all available technologies, the Lancashire Cardiac Centre chose FORE-SIGHT as a standard-of-care in their facility to non-invasively measure brain oxygen saturation during critical procedures. FORE-SIGHT's accuracy and performance will allow the Lancashire Cardiac Centre to better monitor, manage and treat patients at risk for decreased cerebral oxygen saturation."

The Lancashire Cardiac Centre provides heart and lung treatment for the people of Lancashire, Cumbria and beyond, performing 1200 adult cardiothoracic surgery cases per year. The hospital will be the co-host of the Autumn 2009 meeting of the Association of Cardiothoracic Anaesthetists.
