BLOOMINGTON, Ind.--(HSMN NewsFeed)--Nicky James, who has held a variety of positions within Cook Medical, has been named vice president and global leader of the company’s urology business unit. She succeeds Jerry French, a senior executive with more than 20 years of leadership at Cook who is assuming other senior management duties within the company.James came to Cook in 2000 and became North American sales manager for urology in 2007. She was selected as acting global business unit leader in 2009 when French was chosen to head a business launch team in Europe for Cook’s new drug-eluting Zilver® PTX® peripheral stent. “I have two goals,” James explained of her promotion. “Externally, I want to take Cook urology from being viewed as primarily a drainage product provider to a therapeutic device company offering optimal patient outcomes. As global leader of the urology business unit, I will promote and enhance education, innovation and solutions. I want to ensure that these messages and our support is global. Internally, it’s all about the people working in this division. I want to continue maintaining a working environment where people feel excited about what they do, and that they feel included, respected and valued. I have worked the last three years on creating a global sales representative development program to continually develop all individuals within our SBU. Supporting this growth of our individuals is behind everything we do.”
