Catheter Connections Appoints Charity Williams as Chief Business Officer and In-House Counsel
Innovative vascular access company expands leadership team as it prepares for commercial launch of its first product, DualCap™, a new infection control device.SALT LAKE CITY--(Healthcare Sales & Marketing Network)-- Catheter Connections, Inc., a manufacturer of vascular access products that protect patients during intravenous (IV) therapy, today announced the appointment of Charity R. Williams as the Company’s new Chief Business Officer and In-house Counsel, effective immediately. Williams joins Catheter Connection’s seasoned healthcare team, which includes Vicki E. Farrar, Donald D. Solomon, PhD, Robert Hitchcock, PhD, and Guy Jordan, PhD. Her addition to the management team is an important milestone as Catheter Connections accelerates its commercialization activities and the engagement of potential partners with interest in devices that protect patients from infections caused by IV therapy.
Every year in the U.S. nearly 500,000 people acquire IV Catheter related blood stream infections and up to 25% die. Most of these infections are preventable and insurers are no longer reimbursing hospitals the costs of treating such infections. Catheter Connections’ first product, DualCap, is a device that disinfects and protects both IV access points — the luer access valve attached to the patient’s IV Catheter and the male luer at the end of the IV tubing. While the IV tubing male luer is typically overlooked, it is a potential source of microbial colonization. Catheter Connections has developed DualCap, the first and only disinfecting cap for the male luer and luer access valves.

Williams’ responsibilities include the Company’s global sales and marketing strategy, as well as business development. She brings more than fourteen years of experience in the medical device industry, including ten years at ZEVEX Incorporated where she served as Director of Marketing. While at ZEVEX, she led global marketing, business development and international and private label sales of its infusion products. She was a key architect of ZEVEX’s Infinity infusion pump product platform, which lead to its $84 million acquisition by Moog Inc. in 2007. Most recently, she was an associate in the San Diego, CA office of Cooley LLP where her legal practice focused on assisting life science companies with corporate matters including fundraising, acquisitions and commercial transactions. Williams also served as a senior associate at the University Venture Fund.
