Internationally Renowned Radiation Oncologist and Proton Therapy Researcher Joins ProCure Treatment Centers
Eugen B. Hug, M.D., named Chief Medical OfficerBLOOMINGTON, Ind.--(Healthcare Sales & Marketing Network)-- An internationally recognized radiation oncologist with nearly 20 years experience as a clinician, researcher, academic and author in proton therapy has been named Chief Medical Officer of ProCure Treatment Centers, Inc. (ProCure). Eugen B. Hug, M.D., 51, will oversee medical operations, clinical research and treatment protocols for all of ProCure’s proton therapy centers in the United States.
Dr. Hug, who has published more than 140 abstracts and papers, has led and participated in numerous trials on the use of radiotherapy and proton therapy, and has pioneered the clinical application of proton therapy for pediatric malignancies. He is a sought-after lecturer and has trained and mentored some 20 radiation oncologists who are now practicing throughout Europe and the United States.
Before joining ProCure, Dr. Hug served as Director of the Center for Proton Therapy at the Paul Scherrer Institute, Villigen, Switzerland, while concurrently holding positions as Professor and Chair of Proton-Radiotherapy at the University of Zurich. Dr. Hug received his medical degree from Ludwig-Maximilians University Medical School in Munich, Germany; and completed postgraduate training in radiation oncology at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston. He subsequently held staff positions at Massachusetts General Hospital / Harvard Cyclotron Laboratory and Loma Linda University Medical Center.
