Healthcare Industry News: lumbar interbody fusion
News Release - November 1, 2011
Globus Medical Announces Launch of CALIBER(R)-L
AUDUBON, Pa.--(Healthcare Sales & Marketing Network)-- Globus Medical, Inc., the largest privately held spinal implant manufacturer in the world, today announced the launch of CALIBER®-L, a vertically expanding minimally invasive (MIS) lateral implant as the latest addition to its portfolio of unique Lateral lumbar interbody fusion (LLIF) solutions.CALIBER®-L is an innovative expandable lumbar fusion device built off the same ground-breaking technology as the Globus CALIBER® implant. CALIBER®-L can be inserted at a minimal height to help reduce endplate disruption during implantation. Continuous and controlled expansion of the implant aids in disc height distraction, while optimizing fit to the patient’s anatomy.
“Being able to provide gentle distraction with an intra-operative expanding implant as compared to inserting a full height static cage, represents a game-changer for minimally invasive treatment for lumbar degenerative disc disease,” commented Dan S. Cohen, Orthopedic Surgeon, Mount Sinai Medical Center.
Andrew Iott, Vice President of Product Development for MIS added: “The CALIBER®-L device greatly enhances our capabilities by offering a truly unique laterally implanted MIS solution. CALIBER®-L firmly establishes Globus as having the premier solutions for lateral MIS lumbar fusion, along with other introduced LLIF products, InterContinental®, TransContinental®, and MARS™ 3V.”
CALIBER®-L, as well as the full line of Globus spinal implant solutions, will be showcased during the North American Spine Society (NASS) Annual Meeting being held November 2-5 in Chicago, Illinois.
