Nihon Kohden America Announces Telemetry and Enterprise Monitoring Partnership with Columbus Regional Hospital

Nihon Kohden patient monitoring innovation recognized for delivering smarter healthcare in line with CRH’s Innovation Center

FOOTHILL RANCH, Calif.--(Healthcare Sales & Marketing Network)--Nihon Kohden America, a market leader in patient monitoring innovation, has announced a partnership with Columbus Regional Hospital to provide pivotal telemetry and enterprise monitoring technology to the 225-bed facility, which provides emergency and surgical services, a primary stroke center, chest pain center, lung center, heart center, cancer center and other specialty areas. Telemetry installation began March 5, and Columbus Regional Hospital rolled out Nihon Kohden technology in the emergency department on March 22. Other departments will follow in intervals, with final implementation within the hospital’s ICU/OR unit on June 25. This deployment supports CRH’s Innovation Center, an initiative to infuse innovation into all hospital activities to save patient lives and evolve the way they deliver healthcare.

“We recognize that Nihon Kohden is helping hospitals save lives and avoid costs while facing unprecedented challenges to the healthcare system,” said Carolyn O’Neal, CRH director of nursing. “We selected Nihon Kohden because we believe we will garner better detection of both ischemic events and arrhythmias by monitoring 8 leads of ECG, as well as gain the ability to make any bed a fully monitored cardiac bed with the NTX transmitter.”

O’Neal also pointed out that the functionality of Nihon Kohden’s NTX ambulatory transmitters will help put patient care first while improving overall quality of care at Columbus Regional Hospital. The NTX provides hospitals with more flexible monitoring on higher-acuity patients. Ergonomically designed to provide patient comfort and mobility, it bridges the gap between a traditional bedside monitor and an ambulatory transmitter. The NTX allows hospitals to monitor higher-acuity patients safely while maintaining the flexibility, comfort and mobility associated with the ambulatory patient. It allows for monitoring of up to eight leads of ECG, respiration, continuous SpO2 and NIBP at the Central Monitor. An integrated 2.2-inch color screen displays continuous real-time waveform and vital signs, and provides data review with 10 minutes of full disclosure waveforms and 10 minutes of vital signs data, vital trends, full disclosure, lead status and battery status.

“We thank Columbus Regional Hospital for embracing our monitoring innovation,” said Mike Dashefsky, vice president, Nihon Kohden America. “We believe our solutions align firmly with the hospital’s mission found at the CRH Innovation Center. Columbus Regional Hospital is taking systematic steps to evolve the way they deliver healthcare, testing innovation as a central strategy. Innovation helps them deliver the best care in the most efficient and effective way, and we’re proud that Nihon Kohden now will help them further distinguish themselves from the competition.”
