Beacon Endoscopic Announces Commercial Launch of BNX(TM) System for Use in Endoscopic Ultrasound Procedures

Cutting-Edge Technology Decreases Cost, Time and Invasiveness of Gastrointestinal Procedures

NEWTON, Mass., June 6, 2012 -- (Healthcare Sales & Marketing Network) -- Beacon Endoscopic Inc., an emerging GI endoscopy company, announced today the limited market launch of the BNX™ System, its novel fine needle aspiration platform for use in endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) and endoscopic bronchial ultrasound. The EUS BNX™ System received FDA clearance in December 2010 and CE Market in January 2012.

Dr. Douglas Pleskow, Associate Professor of Medicine, Harvard and Co-Director of Endoscopy at the Beth Israel Deaconess Center said, "We are excited that Beacon Endoscopic has addressed needle safety and improved clinical work flow in the BNX™ System design, this will be a paradigm shift in interventional EUS."

The BNX™ System incorporates a delivery system that easily loads and unloads low cost, high performance FNA needles of varying sizes. Another important feature of the BNX design is that it automatically sheaths all needles with a shield during needle removal. The BNX™ delivery system can potentially be utilized as a conduit for other next generation devices that are currently in development by Beacon Endoscopic, namely, SAMSEN a compression anastomosis technology designed to address metabolic disease and gall bladder disease.

Initially, Beacon will work with 20 large endoscopy centers in the U.S. to gain insights from the top gastroenterologists as to training techniques and clinical positioning, "We are pleased with the high level of clinical interest in the BNX System, our novel delivery system for EUS procedures and believe that by working with and learning from the key GI opinion leaders, we can maximize the success of our full commercial launch to the broader market. Our overall goal is to provide physicians with better solutions for existing procedures," said Brian Tinkham, Co-Founder of Beacon Endoscopic.

In the future Beacon hopes to be able to address obesity, Type II diabetes, gallbladder disease, and pancreatic suture drainage with its technology.
