MiE's PET SCINTRON Receives FDA Approval
The first and only hardware and software upgrade available for Siemens ECAT 47, ECAT HR+, and ECAT Accel PET systemsHOUSTON, May 15, 2013--(Healthcare Sales & Marketing Network)--Medical Imaging Electronics (MiE) and Nuclear Imaging Services (NIS) are pleased to announce that the ECAT Scintron has received 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). MiE along with NIS will showcase this product at the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging Annual Meeting in Vancouver, BC, Canada June 8-11, 2013 in booth #830. A special presentation of this product entitled "The Next Generation of Cardiac PET Hardware & Software: The ECAT Scintron" will take place on Sunday, June 9 at noon local time in the SNMMI booth #1526 stage.
The ECAT Scintron is the first and only upgrade path available to the Siemens ECAT 47, ECAT HR+, and ECAT Accel PET systems. The ACSII and SUN workstation are removed from the system and replaced with new PC-based technology that provides new and existing users of the ECAT series PET systems access to faster processing speeds, new acquisition protocols, and parts availability. With improved reliability and longevity, the ECAT Scintron redefines the life cycle of dedicated PET systems in the U.S. market.
T. Kuehl, MiE President & Chief Executive Officer states that "A long demanded product is finally here. With our ECAT Scintron we can close the gap between solid PET scanner technique and shortened development cycles of computer software and hardware. We are proud of our strong development team that did a fabulous job to create a terrific product."
M. Hewitt, NIS President & Chief Executive Officer adds that "It is exciting to be a part of this project in which the MiE team has put a lot of hard work into making the Cardiac PET Scintron a reality. This is the type of product that makes better imaging technology available to more patients by providing a cost-effective solution for Cardiac PET that physicians can afford."
MiE, based in Germany, is a manufacturer and remanufacturer of gamma camera and PET systems. Their in-house research and development department provides the latest technologies including modern software and computer systems. The Scintron unit is always a part of a MiE system and can also be upgraded to any existing system.
