MAQUET Medical Systems USA Showcases CARDIOSAVE(R) IABP HYBRID & RESCUE at National Event Committed to Healthcare Innovation
WAYNE, N.J.--(Healthcare Sales & Marketing Network)--CARDIOSAVE® IABP HYBRID & RESCUE was one of 14 medical innovations on display in front of thousands of healthcare providers and experts at the Premier healthcare alliance’s 2013 Breakthroughs Conference and Exhibition.MAQUET Medical Systems USA’s CARDIOSAVE®™ IABP HYBRID & RESCUE device was selected by clinicians and other members of Premier, a provider-owned performance improvement alliance of more than 2,800 hospitals and nearly 100,000 other care sites.
It debuted during the conference’s fifth annual Innovation Celebration, which took place on June 10 in San Antonio. The event recognizes advances in healthcare while highlighting industry suppliers committed to innovation and improving patient outcomes.
Selection criteria included the uniqueness of the product, its ability to have an impact on an unmet medical need and its potential to positively impact patient care. Other criteria included solutions that displayed uniqueness, as well as those that have an impact on an unmet medical need.
CARDIOSAVE® is an intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) offering a large touchscreen display, small and lightweight design, and seamless transition from in-hospital use to transport mode. CARDIOSAVE® is available in two configurations: CARDIOSAVE® Hybrid for routine in-hospital use and CARDIOSAVE® Rescue for use in ambulances and aircraft. Intra-aortic balloon counterpulsation is an adjunctive therapy that is often used in patients with left ventricular failure and other cardiac conditions. When the intra-aortic balloon is inserted into the patient's aorta, it counterpulsates with the heart and augments coronary blood flow to increase myocardial oxygen supply and decrease myocardial oxygen demand.
“CARDIOSAVE® represents a giant leap forward in functionality and versatility of IABPs while continuing to deliver performance and intuitiveness,” said Raoul Quintero, President and Chief Executive Officer of MAQUET Medical Systems USA. “We are dedicated to pioneering therapeutic solutions and infrastructure capabilities for high-acuity areas within the hospital. CARDIOSAVE® is an important representation of this commitment to innovation, and we are proud that our work is being recognized by Premier.”
“Those who attend and participate in the Innovation Celebration share Premier’s commitment to providing innovative, valuable products to our members that are safe, high-quality and cost-effective,” said Durral R. Gilbert, president of supply chain services, Premier. “These advancements will truly benefit providers as they work to improve the health of their communities.”
Any supplier, regardless of whether the company is contracted with Premier, can be considered for participation in the Innovation Celebration. Overall, Premier contracts with more than 1,000 suppliers.
